Dr. Cindy Rigg

Dr. Rigg knew from the age of four that she was going to veterinary school. Cindy’s parents encouraged her with her desire to have many types of animals as pets, care for livestock and help injured and orphaned wildlife. She was also fascinated with horses and although her family lived in Thoroughbred racing territory, she and her horse loved to jump.

At the age of 10, Cindy starting working for a race-track breeder, caring for sixty mares and their foals. There she met and began working with an equine veterinarian. Soon after that she also began working for the horse veterinarian’s sister(another DVM) at her small animal practice. Through her family’s many moves, Cindy continued to find veterinarians with whom to work, further solidifying her desire to become a veterinary medical doctor. Like most kids during those years she had many athletic endeavors, including several equine sports as well as soccer, track, triathlons and rowing.

Cindy graduated from University of Maryland 1986 with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology and then VA-MD Regional College of Veterinary Medicine with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1991.

Dr. Rigg started as a Veterinary Medical Officer for the United States Department of Agriculture (APHIS, VS) having developed a passion for epidemiology and international studies while in school. There she attained certification as a Foreign Animal Disease Diagnostition(FAD).

After five years of field work with the USDA her yearning for direct patient care drew her return to private practice. At that time, emergency medicine was developing as an important field. Practicing emergency medicine and surgery gave her outstanding experiences in critical medicine and surgery. In those experiences, she realized there was a void in post-operative care of patients and also saw that the pet population was rapidly following their owners in decreasing fitness.

After completion of the Canine Rehabilitation Institute intensive program and internship she was awarded the degree of Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist, further preparing her to help improve the recovery and athleticism of patients who come to All4PawsRehab.

Dr. Rigg enjoys the company of friends and family while she spreads her joy of complete lives through fitness and good nutrition. The terrific animals who share their house with her include a greyhoud, a terrier, a three-legged terrier mix, a cream tabby, a grey tabby and the cutest Lionhead bunny! They all love each other and share the trials of living with a veterinarian.
